Three SHRS faculty members received Provost funds under the 2009 Innovation in Education Awards Program at Pitt. Amy Aggelou , instructor, and Dr. Kevin Conley, assistant professor, Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, and Dr. Margo Holm, professor, Department of Occupational Therapy, submitted projects that were recognized through the program. Aggelou and Conley’s project, “Creating Clinical Competence Through Interactive Technology,” involves the use of a computer program to teach athletic trainers about treating injuries. Holm’s project, “How reliable am I?,” aims at using online assessments to help students practice evaluating patients while performing certain tasks, without having actual patients repeat the motions which can be difficult to endure. The Provost’s Office funded 11 university projects this year. This is the 10th year for the competition.
