School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

Overview

The undergraduate program in Rehabilitation Science is designed to prepare students for graduate education in occupational therapy, physical therapy, rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation technology, wellness and human performance, physician's assistant studies, prosthetics and orthotics and other areas of health care. 

Students who are interested in applying to graduate programs within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) at the University of Pittsburgh are especially encouraged to apply to this program, which will introduce them to many of the faculty who teach in these graduate programs. 

Students begin their studies in Pitt's School of Arts and Sciences or any other accredited college or university, earning 60 credits, including the prerequisite courses in basic and applied sciences and humanities. 

Students are eligible to apply to undergraduate program in Rehabilitation Science in their sophomore year with a minimum of 45 credits completed and evidence that 60 credits and all prerequisites will be completed by the time the program starts in the fall term. Once accepted into the program, students complete their junior and senior years within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
